[Toastmasters] 20201206 Belief changing behavior or vice versa

一、檢討與改進

1、很久沒做演講,緊張自然不在話下,然後我又犯了拖延症的老毛病,總是要等到最後一刻才開始慌慌張張的開始工作。
2、雖然大致想好了內容,但是主題一直很不明確,稿子改到我都不知道自己想講的是什麼,練習的時間也不夠,只能常提醒自己要注意,下次不要再犯同樣的錯。
3、咬字不清楚,這也是練習不足的老問題。其實在上次的會議中,就有其它會員提到咬字和輕重音會影響聽眾對演講的理解。不過這需要刻意的跟讀和有人指導,一個人自習的話,效果會比較有限。
4、若有準備PPT 應該先和主持人討論,才能在演講的時候適時的配合節奏放出。
5、網路無預警的斷掉。這個發生的當下我也超慌的,下一個就要輪我演講了,結果畫面突然黑掉離線,幸好之後能順利連線,要不然就要開天窗了。
6、燈光太昏暗,所以在畫面中看到的景象也很暗。這個狀況其實我當下沒有注意到,是有其它會員私訊我之後,才趕快去找檯燈補光。
以上是自我檢討,可以再做的更好的部份。

二、evaluator 講評

L3 identity>what you believe> I want the place to be always clean and keep it a simple and tidy place
Once you make your first step to do something differently you will generate a believe and activate your reaction.
Just ask about what kind of person you would like to be, that is the answer~
IE:Mindy
She is well at…

Recall the main idea before ended the speech-Behavior change your believe and decide what kind of person you would like to be
her idea is Clear and structured and she fulfilled it step by step
For me, this is a structured speech; however, I saw her leadership style is -self-discipline & delightful while I cannot see her leading others to do something inside her speech so l suggest her to put her interaction with her kids to tide the house and keep it clean we could call it – Example is better than precept
Mother can be the leader of a family~
Two, rehearse the PowerPoint and how to use zoom share screen beforehand because whenever online meeting we have to have helper like Sandy~ I see a lot of photos of her change and it is better for her to show it herself with her own temple

整體上來說,有清楚的架構,也能讓人懂得想要表達的是什麼。但是我的L1 已經結束,而在下個階段leadership 的著墨不夠,這就是我下一次演講必須要注意的地方。

三、Speech title: Belief changing behavior or vice versa

Good morning Toastmasters.
Before the speech, I want to ask a question.

Do you think belief changing behavior or behavior changing belief?

We can discuss the answer later.

As we know, this year has been a difficult ear for many people.
At the beginning, there was the impact of COVID19 and many people we knew died.

Also a sad thing happened to me.
Few months ago, because the fetus stopped growing and went to surgery, it’s that me depressed for a while.
Till September, after my 40th Birthday, I suddenly felt that there were 100 days left this year and I wanted to use the remaining time to change my mood.

I don’t know what to do, so I think maybe I can start tiding my house and sort out my life.
The homework is to throw an unwanted thing everyday.
In the first few days, the exercise was easy.
Shoes and clothes that I haven’t worn for a long time, expired medicines and lotions, broken parts of toy, everyday, everywhere seems endless garbage.

Although it’s just an act of throwing things, but after 30 days, my habits and belief seems to change.

If the famous book「Atomic Habit」says: if we want to build a new habit, there are 3 layers of behavior change.
The first layer is changing your outcomes.
This concerned with changing result like lose weight, make more money or clean your room.
Most of the goal set with this level of change.

The second layer is changing your process.
This level is concerned with changing your habits and systems, implanting a new routine in the morning, sort out your desk for better workflow.
Most of the habit build with this level.

The third and deepest layer is changing your identity.
This level is concerned with changing your belief: what the person you want become.

Outcomes are about what you get, process are about what you do, identity is about what you believe.

Look back, I was following these 3 steps to build a habit and change my belief.

My first layer is throwing unwanted thing, that’s changing outcome because I want a clean and beautiful house.

Return after use and keep clean is the second layer, change process and build a new habit.

Finally, keep clean and make a beautiful life as my belief.

Of course, sometimes I want to be lazy and this moment I remind myself that I like clean and simple space.

After these months of organizing, I understood 3 things.

1、Start change with a simple thing.
2、A behavior that lasts for 30 days will really become a habit.
3、When you start to act, you will generate belief and belief will push you to move and more active.

So, we can back the question.
Belief and behavior are complement each other neither of which can be ignored.
